BAINBRIDGE – Unadilla Valley came away with a road win against fellow Chenango County team Bainbridge-Guilford, in part due to stellar defensive play, winning 60-31.
The first half and second half would show slightly different results, however, one thing would stay the same, The Unadilla Valley Storm would lead at the end of each quarter of play.
At the half the offense was kicking for The Storm, as five different players score as they lead The Bobcats at a slight 31-20.
“We played outstanding defense and pushed the ball up the floor on every possession. We shared the ball and shot a very high percentage in the second half,” said UV head coach Matt Osborne.
This lead by UV was the most the Bobcat offense could muster as they netted 13-points in the second quarter to reach the 11-point deficit.
The second remaining half is where the defensive side of The Storm came into play, allowing the offensive to continue to shine as well. UV would hold the B-G to only 4-points, both coming from Trevor Halaquist; and subsequently only 7-points to finish out the game, six of which came from Zach Oimet.
UV would put up 18-points in the third quarter followed by an 11-point showing to bring the final score to 60-31.
Top performer for The Bobcats on the evening was Zach Oimet who netted 13-points in the loss.
