WHITNEY POINT – Two Chenango County teams dominate the finals of the Section IV Class C Tournament this past Saturday Feb. 6, at Whitney Point, where seven individuals from the county would win their titles.

•The BGAH wrestling team had five individuals emerge this past Saturday from the finals round as champions, helping them take home the team title as well at 258-points, over second place Walton-Delhi at 233.5-points.

BGAH brought a tournament high 15 wrestlers to the Class tournament and saw 13 of these athletes place in the top six spots in their weight classes.

The following wrestlers for BGAH won their respective weight classes: Brody Oleksak at 99-pounds; Chris Cirigliano at 113-pounds; Cody Ferrara at 120-pounds; Austin Carr at 160-pounds; and Dylan Mondore at 220-pounds.

At 99-pounds Oleksak enjoyed a moderately easy ride to the finals match. He received forfeits until the semi-finals where he faced Brennen Roe of Whitney Point winning 16-0. The finals matchup against Chendler Merwin of Walton-Delhi gave Oleksak better competition as we edged Merwin 4-0.

Chris Cirigliano at 113-pounds followed suit, receiving bye’s until the semi-final round, where he would pin Braedon Libbey of Dryden in just :35 seconds. Cirigliano would cruise to a class title with in a win in the finals over Daniel Koll of Lansing at 11-1.
