Davis, Lyons Lead Blackhawks In Win Over B-G

OXFORD - The Oxford men’s varsity basketball team bounced back after a slow start in a 59-33 win over Bainbridge-Guilford.

Oxford seniors Kevin Davis and Trenton Lyons each had big nights offensively, together accounting for 43 of the Blackhawks’ 59 points. Davis had a game high of 25, and Lyons tacked on another 19 points.

Oxford Head Coach Tim Davis said, “After a slow start and getting down 6-0, our defense picked up the intensity to help the team create some offense and take a 12-8 lead at the end of the first quarter.”

The Blackhawks carried that momentum into the second quarter, where they would have their strongest offensive performance of the game while holding Bainbridge-Guilford to only one made field goal.

In the second half, Oxford continued to produce on the offensive end while containing the Bobcats. The Blackhawks defense would shut down the Bobcats in the fourth quarter, holding them to only two made baskets.

The game marks the end of the regular season for both Oxford and Bainbridge-Guilford. Both teams turn their attention the the MAC conference tournament beginning on Thursday evening; Bainbridge-Guilford will travel to Unatego to take on the Spartans, and Oxford will play host to the Deposit Lumberjacks.
