NORWICH – As a volunteer-driven organization, the Northeast Classic Car Museum in Norwich is only as good as the people who help.

That was the theme behind the museum’s annual volunteer recognition luncheon held at its Rexford Street location Thursday. Dozens of volunteers turned out to the event to celebrate their efforts, and to discuss the museum’s roadmap for continued success.

“I continue to be very impressed at the level of dedication displayed by the volunteers, staff and board members here at the museum, as well as the total number of volunteer hours,” said Northeast Classic Car Museum Director Robert Jeffrey.

The museum had a tremendous outpouring of volunteer support in 2015, with 8,430 volunteer hours logged – the equivalent of five full-time staff positions, Jeffrey noted.

“Without you, the volunteers, the Northeast Classic Car Museum wouldn’t be able to fulfill its vision to the Greater Norwich Community, Chenango County and the region,” he said.

Opened in 1997 as a way to promote local economic activity, the museum has become a prime tourist destination in Chenango County. Its 170-plus car exhibit has garnered promotional acclaim from some major names in the tourism industry, including the American Automobile Association (AAA).
