CHERRY VALLEY – In their first test of the play-offs, The Gilbertsville-Mount Upton girl’s varsity basketball team fell victim to Cherry Valley-Springfield last Tuesday night, Feb. 9, on a score line of 29-22.
“Our usual offensive woes hurt us as we had many good looks but could not find the bottom,” said GMU head coach James Johnson, following the loss.
Although the GMU defense shut out their opponents in the fourth quarter, it was all in vain as their offense struggled to notch points on the other end.
The Raider offense mustered up just 11 points in the first half, and found themselves trailing by 11 at the break.
The GMU defense stepped up and performed much better in the second half, but their offensive anguish was persistent. They tallied up just 11 points in the second half to finish with just 22 for the game.
