SHERBURNE - The Marauder boys live to fight another day after a 59-51 win over South Jefferson in the opening round of sectional play.
“This time of year,” said Sherburne-Earlville Head Coach Kevin Vibbard, “the goal is to survive and advance.”
The Marauders did just that on Saturday afternoon, as they would enter the final quarter with a nine point lead and fend off a late Spartan run with sound free throw shooting by Matt Hull and Dylan Seymour.
The duo combined to go 8-10 from the charity line in the fourth quarter to help seal the deal for Sherburne-Earlville. Coach Vibbard said, “We made foul shots in the end and really finished the game strong.”
Hull and Seymour were among the Marauders’ leading scorers with 16 and 13 points respectively. Senior Gavin Giroux also had a big day for Sherburne-Earlville with 15 points.
The number 4 seeded Marauders advance to the second round of sectional play to host the Skaneateles Lakers on Tuesday, February 16th.
