UNADILLA VALLEY – The Unadilla boys varsity basketball team was pitted in what proved to be a favorable matchup against Thomas A. Edison high school, winning 48-32.
Despite a very consistent game from The Unadilla Valley Storm, the beginning of the game was quite slow, as for either side wouldn’t really take off most of the way through the first quarter.
Once the scoring had begun UV ran the table with Thomas A. Edison beginning the game with a 9-1 score, and leading going into the second quarter up, 14-7.
Thomas A. Edison was not without fight however, as they opened up the second quarter scoring 5-straight.
This quick 5-points was subsequently the only points Thomas A. Edison would score in the remainder of the half, as UV would then go on a 13-point run to close the half in a commanding fashion at 27-12.
“We played outstanding defense in the first half and took the ball to the basket,” said Unadilla Valley head coach Matt Osborne.
The Storm would continue their consistent scoring throughout the remainder of the game, scoring 10 and 11-points to close out the game. This consistency helped fend off a 20-point slate scored in the second half from Thomas A. Edison.
“They switched defenses in the second half and we shared the ball and scoring throughout,” said Osborne.
