GREENE – The Greene varsity boys basketball team continues to make history in the 2015-2016 season, as they won this past Friday Feb. 19, and will now advance to the semi-finals of the Section IV class C sectional playoffs.
This advancement to the semi-finals is a feat much like winning the MAC championship earlier this year, no other basketball team from Greene has accomplished either since these kids have even been alive.
The Trojans would play a dominate fourth quarter, which due to all the fouls being called seemed to last a very suspenseful lifetime.
“They made it exciting, the boys showed they can handle adversity, they can be down and still keep with the game,” said Greene head coach Chris Rice.
The game was in a back and forth motion for much of the fourth quarter with Greene usually slightly up by one or two points.
“We’ve been down or up by 2-points at least half of our games this year. So we know we can play in the second half,” said Rice.
The first quarter saw the Trojans trail Watkins Glen by a mere one-point; while by the conclusion of the first half, Greene would lead 22-20.
