Bill Gives Tax Breaks To Volunteer Firefighters

ALBANY – Volunteer firefighters could see a break in their personal income tax if lawmakers pass a bill that’s currently working its way through the state legislature.

State legislators hope to provide up to $1,200 in income tax credits to volunteer firefighters and members of a volunteer ambulance corps who are in good standing. Beneficiaries must be in good standing for a minimum of five years and maintain continued eligibility in New York State.
