NORWICH – Editor’s Note: In Monday’s edition of The Evening Sun, it was reported that the arrest below took place last Saturday. That report was erroneous. Jenkins was arrested by a Norwich Police Officer on Friday, March 4, 2016.
According to authorities, Bashiem Jenkins, 20, Norwich, was arrested Friday and was said to be in possession of heroin.
It is additionally alleged that Jenkins possessed a quantity of cash.
Jenkins was stopped by a Norwich Police Officer on Westcott Street in the city for a traffic violation.
There was no K9 used involved in the arrest or apprehension of Jenkins.
He was arraigned in Norwich City Court and was sent to the Chenango County Correctional Facility (CCCF) in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.
After contacting the CCCF, it was determined that as of Monday morning, Jenkins was no longer in their custody.
He is set to appear again in Norwich City Court at a later date.
