Boys dominate the Black Knights while the girls sweep the field events

NORWICH – The Norwich varsity track team claimed two wins at home this past Tuesday, April 12 when they cleaned house on both the boys and girls side of the meet. The boys would end up winning 97-40 followed by the girls winning 83-56.

The Norwich boys controlled the meet from start to finish, winning a total of 13 of the 15 events on the day.

Despite the cold weather, the boys posted some impressive times on the track seeing the team of Zach Race, David Berger, Eric Conant and Drew Walsh in the 4x100 meters run a 46.9.

“I don’t think they realize they’re young, everyone who has beat them this year has been a senior,” said Norwich head coach Shaun Horan.

Norwich also claimed a victory in the 4x400 relay; consisting of Connor Supensky, Noah Bufalini, Scott Tomanocy, and Gabe Gawronski, who ran a 4:01.6. Horan stated this time was sub par but encouraged that due to the chilly weather, good things are to come from this group as well.

Despite not claiming the first place spot in the 100 meter sprint, which went to Hazemty of Windsor with a time of 11.5, Norwich finished second, third and fourth in that closely contested event with a time of 11.6 ran by Zach Race, 12.0 ran by Eric Conant, and 12.3 ran by David Berger.
