CHENANGO COUNTY – Seven different additional teams took to the diamond in yesterday's Chenango County splurge of games.

HANCOCK – A young Unadilla Valley team traveled to Hancock to take on their seasoned team, losing 18-5 on the night.

“They’re good, last years MAC champions and defending Section champions. We lost to a solid program,” said UV head coach Jason Miller.

The evening turned sour for UV almost immediately in the game, when they gave a quick 9-runs in the first inning.

“I had three guys pitch tonight (Payton Stirone, Hunter Christian, and Teddy Postman), Nick Stirone and Payton Stirone really did a bang up job out there. We really have had no real practice outside, but Payton had two doubles and two RBI's, he did a great job. We didn’t give up, and we got our runs in the sixth and seventh innings,” said Miller.

Miller explained that Hancock's starting pitcher really got to his team early, once the relief pitcher was brought, UV started to get some better looks.

Andrew Jackson recorded a double, Payton Stirone had two doubles and two RBI's with scored 2 runs, while Adam Lamont and Jake Grant each had a double.

Hancock is really good program, hopefully we can keep grinding and working. We made some good plays and then some really bad ones,” said Miller.

UV will travel to Walton tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. in search of their elusive first win on the season.
