GREENE – The boys varsity baseball team in Greene has now drawn their overall record to an even 3-3 after last nights victory over the visiting Unatego Spartans.

Greene upped their defensive play as they ended a late push from the Spartans to hold on for a 8-5 win.

It was actually Unatego who earned the first run of the game when Feyerabend of Unatego showed some nice play early in the top of the second inning when he singled to center field. Feyerabend then stole to second base before making it to third off his teammates at bat, before being hit home at the next at bat for Unatego.

The bottom of the third saw the Trojans down 1-0, catch fire for an inning. Greene's Brian Leone started the inning off for the Trojans with a nice line drive down left line. After a wild hit by pitch that sent Zach Orzell to first base, It was Jordon Harrington who singled to send Leone home for the tie at 1-1. Orzell, Harrington and Luke Day all scored in the inning in part to an impressive double from Lucian Austin. This offensive play set Greene ahead 4-1, a lead they wouldn’t surrender the remainder of the game.

The fourth inning saw the teams exchange runs drawing the score to 5-2, before The Trojans exploded in the fifth inning for another three runs.
