The lady Blackhawks got their feet underneath them in the second inning when Rachael Seiler started the batting off with a triple to center field. Emilee Eldred was then walked and stole to get to second, before the Blackhawks endured two strikeouts at the plate.
Kylie Roys had the RBI double to bring Seiler and home knotting the game at 2-2. Delhi would tack another run on in the bottom of the second to take the lead at 3-2 for the final time in the game.
“The base running was good, the feeling was for real tonight,” said Oxford head coach Heather Pizza.
The third inning had Oxford knocking in the runs as they both connected as well as took advantage of some mistakes on the Delhi side.
While Oxford played solid defense in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings, blanking Delhi in those innings they actually managed an additional two runs in the fourth with three more in the sixth.
