NORWICH – After a four day hiatus from any games, the Norwich varsity softball team hosted the Saints of Seton Catholic, yesterday April 25, in what proved to be a much closer game than the last time around this season.

Norwich would earn the win at 4-0 after jumping out to an early lead in the game and relying on solid pitching to carry them to the win.

This 4-0 margin was much improved for the Saints who hosted Norwich earlier this season only to lose in blowout fashion 27-0.

“This was not anything like I expected. But I told the girls after Chenango Forks, I would rather lose 4-1, or win 4-0 like tonight, than win 27-0 because you don’t learn anything when you win like that,” said Norwich head coach Scott Moore.

The early lead in the game did go to Norwich in the second inning of play when Kassidy Seary reached second base on an error from the Saints. Seary didn’t have to wait long before her teammate, and Pitcher Hannah Eddy knocked her home with an RBI triple.
