OXFORD – This Friday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m., Oxford's 6 On the Square is delighted to welcome Tret Fure back to its downtown stage.

Fure is legend in a number of music tribes–all of whom place deep value on her gorgeous songwriting, adept guitar playing, and beautiful voice–but we’ll bet you don’t know about the depth of her musical history.

She began her career at the age of 16 by singing in coffeehouses and campuses in the Midwest, then at age 19 Tret moved to LA in hopes of obtaining a record deal.  Within a year she was performing as guitarist and vocalist for Spencer Davis, touring with him and penning the single for his album “Mousetrap.” She went on to record her own album in 1973 on MCA/UNI Records with the late Lowell George of Little Feat as her producer. With the success of that release, she opened for Yes, Poco, and the J Geils Band.

Over the course of her 46-year career, Tret has released 15 recordings, including the recent “Rembrandt Afternoon.” In addition to being a gifted songwriter, Fure also engineered and produced countless recordings for a variety of artists, including her own.
