GREENE – Last week the Greene varsity baseball team played a slew of games, in which they only managed one win over McGraw high school, before falling to Afton, Deposit, and Sidney.

The Trojans traveled to McGraw last monday, April 25. to take on McGraw, a game in which their bats were on as they jumped on top early and poured on the runs.

After a slow first inning, Josh Harrington managed to reach a base on a dropped ball. Harrington quickly stole second before Joe Phillips hit a line drive single to left field.

After walking the next at bat, and with bases loaded now for the Trojans, it was Jordon Harrington who hit a hard ground ball to third base, allowing Josh Harrington to open the flood gates for Greene as he made it home. Phillips then managed the second run of the inning on the last play of the inning.

This 2-0 lead for Greene quickly changed to 16-2 due to some solid at bats and some sloppy play on defense for McGraw. McGraw committed nine errors to Greene's two in the contest.

After the two run second inning, Greene found their groove, scoring in every inning from their on out, with a six run seventh inning to top it off.

Pitching the win for Greene was Breven Gilmore, who pitched six innings and tossed out five strikeouts to only one walk.
