OWEGO – Norwich varsity baseball traveled to Owego Free Academy this past Thursday, May 5, in a matchup they were hoping to improve on from the earlier season loss of 5-2.

“We got through the first couple innings, I don’t even think they got a guy past first base,” said Norwich head coach Rich Turnbull. “Then the fourth inning came and we gave up too many hits.”

Norwich would hold the game scoreless through the first three innings, before Owego managed to time their pitching somewhat and earned a monster five run inning in the fourth.

“We only had five hits in the game, their pitcher pitched well in the middle part of the game,” said Turnbull. “He established his fast ball pretty early then the second time around facing him, he had a good curveball, and we just couldn’t hit it.”

Norwich had some bright spots on the evening, with Chris Jeffrey going 1-2 with a run, John Predmore going 1-3 with a run scored, Jake Walsh going 1-3 with a run scored and an RBI, Paden Burlison going 1-3 with an RBI, and Austin McCloskey going 1-3 with an RBI.
