After Walton jumped on the board first in the game with a run, it was The Lady Blackhawks who would explode onto the scene right out of the gates with an five run first inning to answer, followed by an eight run second inning.
Kylie Roys started out with double in the first, followed by an a double, a triple and two singles and that brought in the first five runs for Oxford.
It was Rachel Seiler who got things started in the second inning for Oxford when she hit a solid single to center field, ultimately sending home Raigen Ehly.
“We just were connecting with her early on. They had a long trip and we were ready to play off the bat,” said Oxford head coach Heather Pizza. “We had a little trouble hitting after the first two innings, but we had quite a few batters that fouled a lot of balls off.”
Oxford failed to score any runs past the second inning in the game, but did manage to hold onto the win due to the excellent pitching from Karly Marshman, as well as her defensive play backing her up.
