CHENANGO VALLEY – Norwich varsity baseball would travel down Route 12, to take on the Chenango Valley Warriors, Monday, May 9. in a game they ultimately lost 12-2.

“This is the worst we played all year, I was really disappointed because this is team we beat earlier in the year,” said Norwich head coach Rich Turnbull.

Norwich had previously earned their lone win on the season against Chenango Valley, winning 4-3 on April 18., however, saw their potential second win of the 2016 season slip away from them due to a multitude of errors.

Chenango Valley was celebrating their senior night at this most recent matchup and saw some spark early on when they jumped out early on Norwich with a five run opening inning, followed by tacking on an additional run in the second inning, making the score 6-0 in favor of The Warriors.

“I think it was their senior night, they were really excited and they played with a lot of energy,” said Turnbull. “We seemed to for the first time all year, we just felt very flat.”

Norwich would get on the board in the fourth inning with a run going their way, when Chris Jeffrey hit an RBI in, however it was a fielders choice ground out.
