SHERBURNE – The varsity Sherburne-Earlville baseball team hosted Clinton on May 17, as they found themselves in a close showdown, ultimately losing 5-3.
The first inning saw the evenly matched teams each score one run a piece, tying the score at 1-1. Clinton would then secure the lead in the third, following another run.
Up by one, and entering the fourth inning, the SE bats awoke to hit home two runners. With a tied score at 3-3 heading into the closing innings, it was expected to potentially head into extra innings.
Clinton would have pitcher plans when they strung together a two run seventh inning, to steal the game out from under the Marauders.
