NORWICH – A Chenango County grand jury met earlier last week to determine indictments for the month of May, 2016 and subsequently decided that there was enough evidence against six individuals to charge them with at least one felony level crime.

• Samuel Rivera, 45, of Guilford was indicted on four felony charges, as well as two misdemeanors. Rivera was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony; one count of criminal nuisance in the first degree, a class E felony; and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor.

It is alleged that Guilford, on April 20., in the Town of Guilford at approximately 2 p.m., did possess one plastic bag containing a chunky substance, the narcotic drug cocaine; and did possess 20 plastic wraps containing the narcotic drug cocaine with intent to sell. Rivera was also found to be in possession of 280 packets of the narcotic drug heroin, with intent to sell.

The criminal nuisance charge alleges that Rivera allowed individuals to gather in his residence, and did benefit monetarily from the sale of illegal drugs.
