NORWICH – The Chenango Hellcats gained their second win in just two days, when they traveled to Harpursville on June 30, defeating them 5-0 in the game.
The game would see little action in the hits column as both teams defenses stepped up tremendously to allow a total of seven hits – four for the Hellcats and three for Haprursville.
“We kept the pressure on them for sure, and we had heads up base running,” said Hellcats head coach Jason Miller. “We put the ball in play a lot.”
Although the ball was put in play a lot, the Harpursville defense would make the plays to hold the game close for some time. The Hellcats would only take the 2-0 lead in the third inning.
Errors on Harpursville side contributed to the loss, as Harpursville would commit two to The Hellcats none.
“There were a handful of things you’ve got to do and they just didn’t do those things,” said Miller. “Harpursville just made a couple errors and a few bad plays.”
