NORWICH – 2016 marks the third annual return of the Norwich Family YMCA's Elevate your Game basketball camp, an interactive clinic program designed improve skills of area basketball players in grades 5-12.
The program will be offered this year from July 11–14 from 8:30 a.m.– noon in the Norwich Family YMCA Field house located at 68 N. Broad St, Norwich.
Under the leadership of Daphne Thompson, SUNY Oneonta Head Women’s Basketball Coach, Keith Thompson with 20 years of collegiate coaching experience, and Chris Garcia, Head Basketball Coach at Morris High School.
An “Offensive Skills Camp” will be featured this year with a focus on the offensive components of the game: proper shooting techniques; importance of ball handling, foot work, passing and shooting; one-on-one aspects of the game; and competitive games that will focus on these skills during the camp.
With an emphasis on enjoying the game, competitive drills and exercises will be introduced during each the camp session. Group and one-on-one instruction from camp counselors will be provided and we hope that each camper will walk away with a new love for the game while learning and developing the correct fundamentals of the game.
