ALBANY – The company behind the Constitution Pipeline is seeking a timeline extension from the federal government to build the 124-mile long natural gas delivery system.
A permit to build the pipeline was issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in December, 2014, with stipulations that the Constitution Pipeline Company obtain a state water quality permit and finish work on the project by December 2016.
The process, however, was held up by New York’s Department of Environmental Conservation when the state agency refused to issue a permit in April. According to NYSDEC, the Constitution Pipeline failed to meet stream protection and other water resource standards under the state’s Clean Water Act.
