NORWICH - For the third straight summer, Norwich City School District was proud to offer two grant-funded STEAM Camps for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who are interested in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics.
This year, students at STEAM camp focused on the construction and programming of the versatile and complex robot, Lego MindStorm EV3.
“STEAM provides students with the opportunity to apply the knowledge that they learn in the classroom.” said Norwich High School technology educator Chris Klatt.
Formerly STEM camp, this year’s camp saw an upgrade consistent with the STEAM team’s model for constant improvement with the addition of the arts to the program. This follows the inclusion of the arts nationally as a technical field of study in an effort to highlight the importance of creativity and critical thinking skills in 21st century learning.
