Late night blaze destroys Brisben garage

GREENE – Mutual Aid fire crews from several area companies reported to the scene of a fully involved garage fire in the Brisben Fire district at 129 King Rd, town of Greene late Monday evening.

Initially, the call came into Chenango County 911 call center as a barn structure at 9:25 p.m., but was reclassified as a fully involved garage fire upon assesment of first responders to the scene.

Mutual Aid Companies from Greene, Oxford, Brisben, and Smithville along with County Fire Coordinators were on the scene of the blaze, now deemed a total loss, and the glow of the flames and smoke could be seen from a distance of nearly five miles away.

Chenango County tax records indicate that the property is owned by Robert and Shirley Alger of Greene.
