OXFORD – The Oxford Memorial Library Board of Trustees reached a difficult decision at their September board meeting. Beginning Monday, Oct. 3 the library will start closing at 8 p.m. instead of the current closing time of 8:30 p.m. Monday – Thursday. Board members concluded that the upside of the decision will come by way of realloting those two hours per week into OML’s youth services program without impacting the budget.

Extensive surveys performed by the library indicates that other than special programs in the community room, the library sees very little patronage for that last half hour of service. “We feel that it will be a much better use of tax dollars to put that time into our youth services program,” said Director Nancy Wilcox.
