GREENE – The varsity girls field hockey team in Greene now sits at 4-2 overall record in 2016, after winning their first matchup of the week against Tioga, before dropping a game to Whitney Point.
The lady Trojans would travel to Tioga on Sept. 12, in what proved to be a game of two teams in far different places skill-wise as Greene would dominate much of the game winning 5-0.
Greene would enjoy a comfortable 2-0 lead at the half following a goals from Alyssa Sands first and an assisted goal from Chrissy Boeltz (assist McKenna Sergi).
The lead following the half would then extend to 5-0 when Sands again got the momentum shifted for the Trojans, with her second goal of the game which was assisted by Katie Anderson. Chrissy Boeltz would hook up with Jenna Crosby for the assist to Crosby's goal. While Skylar Gilmore would finish the game off with her unassisted goal to raise Greene to a 5-0 victory on the road.
Despite just being held to five goals in the game, Greene would show dominance over Tioga, producing 27 shots on goal to Tioga's one, while Greene also recorded 10 penalty corners.
