OXFORD – Last Friday night, Jan. 6, a strong Hancock team hammered The Oxford girl’s varsity basketball team by more than 40 points.
Hancock got off to a fantastic start, scoring 21 points in the first quarter, in comparison to just eight from their opponents, all coming from the hand of Katelyn Diamond.
Things didn’t get much better for the Blackhawks as the game progressed. Hancock outscored them 15 to five to go in at the halftime break with a sizable 23-point advantage.
The Oxford offense never found it’s footing, and mustered just nine points in the entirety of the second half. Their defense from behind the arc wasn’t much better, as they gave up 10 three-pointers. The Blackhawks eventually succumbed to defeat on a scoreline of 64-22.
