SAUQUOIT – The boys varsity basketball team of Sherburne-Earlville proved triumphant – moving to a solid 8-4 overall with an impressive 4-0 record in the conference – the S-E Marauders defeated Sauquoit Valley on the road with a six point win at 67-61.
After starting the 2016-2017 season with a miserable 0-3 record, the S-E boys have now moved to win eight of their last nine contests, including this most recent win over the Indians of Sauquoit Valley.
The road win for S-E came on Friday, Jan. 13, where the unluckiness of the day did not effect the Marauders who marched to a 17 point fourth period to stave off the Indians – holding them to just 11 fourth period points.
Leading S-E in the win was Matt Hull who dominated the game, leading both teams in scoring, grabbing 20 points. Trailing Hull for S-E was Lane Hunter who assisted in the scoring with 16 points of his own.
“It was a good game. We played well offensively,” said Sherburne-Earlville head coach Kevin Vibbard.
S-E did enjoy a solid offensive performance in the game posting an opening period of 16 points, followed by a 14 point second period – impressively on the Indians side they managed to lead S-E 31-30 at the half.
