OXFORD – The Oxford girls varsity basketball team took to the court in hopes of their third win on the season, what ensued was a 40 point loss at the hands of the Delaware Academy lady Bulldogs who won in fashion at 56-16.
Delhi opened the game up on Jan. 13, with a monstrous first period – catching the Oxford girls on their heels – when they outscored Oxford 21-2 in just the first period.
Extending the lead for Delhi, they took the game into the half with a score of 36-4, as Oxford mustered just two points in each of the first two periods of play.
Contrary to what would be commonly thought, Delhi had no real standout in the scoring column, but instead saw eight players produce with Wakin leading the way with 11 points, followed by Sackett with 10 points of her own.
Down big at the half, the Oxford girls would see an improved second half – however, already buried on the scoreboard the comeback was far from a reality – as Oxford netted seven points in the third followed by a five point fourth period.
