BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge-Guilford girls’ varsity basketball team showed why they have gone undefeated thus in their 2016-17 campaign in a display of offensive and defensive artistry. B-G’s dominating offensive effort suffocated the girls of Greene – scoring 18 and 20 points in the first and third quarters. While the Greene defense prevented the offensive damage of the host Bobcats in the even periods of play, they failed to get any offensive rhythm going to combat their foes.
The Bobcats drew first blood on the visiting Trojans scoring the first points of the contest 36 seconds after the opening tip-off. From there, the Bobcats offensive onslaught could not be contained, scoring at will all while not allowing a Trojan field goal until 3:21 left in the first quarter. With the first quarter of play ending 18-5 with the lead in favor of the home team, the Trojans looked to crawl back into the ball game.
The second quarter defensively went as planned for the Trojans – only allowing the Bobcats to score half of their first quarter totals. However, B-G one-upped Greene’s defensive effort by not allowing a field goal for the visitors for the entirety of the second period. With the score at half-time 27-6, the Bobcats just needed to close out the game.
