OXFORD – The Oxford girls varsity bowling team recently made some history when they won the Midstate Athletic Conference Championship for the first time since 1970.
The lady Blackhawks finished the regular season with an impressive 41-7 overall record to edge Bainbridge-Guilford and Hancock by a slim margin.
The only teams to take points from Oxford this season were the Bobcats (3 points), and Hancock (4 points).
Oxford will be looking for a continued success in the program, as they will be impressively returning all five starters next season, including their top duo of Jourdan Pinney and Erin Howard.
Pinney and Howard finished in the top five of the league for the 2016-2017 season – while leading the way for the lady Blackhawks this season was Jourdan Pinney who finished as the number two ranked bowler in the MAC league. Howard, only and eighth grader, was close behind as the number three ranked bowler in the division.
