Norwich native achieves professional distinction

CORNING – Shawn Harrington Markham has been appointed an Engineering Fellow for the CDT (Corning Display Technologies) Division Engineering by Corning Incorporated.

Shawn graduated from Norwich City Schools in 1997 and received her BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1991. Shortly thereafter she joined Corning and started her career in the Applied Process Engineering Group. Shawn engaged in Corning's fusion process developments and assumed leadership of the forming process development group in 1995. She lead early fusion technology scale-up and expansions to Asia.

Shawn was appointed forming technology manager in 2004 and has since been recognized worldwide as a Master Subject Matter Expert (SME) of applied fusion forming. She was named Engineering Associate in August 2007 and in 2012 was named the first woman Senior Engineering Associate in Corning's history. In the 165 year history of Corning,

Shawn joins an elite group of only 13 Engineering Fellows and is the first female to achieve such recognition.
