NORWICH – The resignation of Alderman Tom LoPiccolo of Ward Six in the City of Norwich was effective March 31, thereby opening a spot for any interested residents of that ward to vie for the appointment.
As Norwich Mayor Christine Carnrike pointed out, as the resignation comes mid-term, the appointment for the vacancy is a position that will last until the end of this year. Anyone wishing to run for the full term for the council-person spot would need to go through the necessary motions following the end of this year.
Carnrike said LoPiccolo has taken a position elsewhere with the City of Norwich, and his resignation was effective at 11:59 p.m., March 31.
