OTSELIC – Defense, defense, and more defense that is what the lady Vikings lacked in their 23-7 home loss to McGraw on Monday.
The runs were present, the bats were there, having 12 team hits – it was the defensive effort that allowed 23 runs off of 21 hits that sunk the Vikings to the depths of yet another loss.
5-5 after just one inning, the future looked bright. That is before McGraw poured on at least four runs coming in each of the next four innings played – having six in the third inning alone.
Taking the loss for OV was Whitney Hamlin, who pitched three innings having two strikeouts and 12 walks. Jolanda Ponce would attempt to salvage the game with her two innings pitched and three strikeouts to three walks, however, the hole had already been dug.
