SHERBURNE – The rain was falling, Chenango County was facing flooding throughout, and yet the Sherburne Marauder PONY League Team was still ready to play some baseball – earning a playoff win against Delhi, at 5-4.

5-4, a respectable score for two respectable teams – yet it was once again Sherburne who just wouldn’t quit. With their backs against the wall and facing possible extra innings in a rain-soaked game on Friday, July 14, taking the walk off win.

Sherburne’s Nate Morgan stepped in to bat, managing to reach first on an error, Nick McDaniels walked, followed by a single on a bunt from Bret Bates – this all led to the defining play to push Sherburne over the top for the win in the bottom of the seventh inning.

With bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, and a 4-4 tied score, Preston Eaves took a shot for the team when he was hit by pitch – pushing the runners around the bases for the score and win.
