S-E has back-to-back one loss goals

SHERBURNE – The Marauders hosted their annual soccer tournament this past weekend, September 1 and 2. Both days ended with tough losses as they lost their first game of the tournament in overtime 4-3 to McGraw.

After the first half, Sherburne-Earlville and McGraw were tied 1-1.

Either team would not let up in the second half as they continued to match goal for goal. Scoring for the Marauders came from Adeline Trass, Tess Cole and Corey Jeffrey, each scoring one before the end of regulation. Trass also recored an assist during the game.

McGraw would edge out Sherburne-Earlville in overtime to make the final 4-3 sending the Marauders to the consolation game the following day in the afternoon against Unatego.

Not getting off the field from the night before until 11 p.m., S-E would return at 1 on Saturday. A little fatigued from Friday, the Marauders got off to a slow start, allowing Unatego two score two goals early in the game.

Sherburne would get a goal on the board before the end of the first half from Cole, who shot a rocket at the goalie from outside the 18-yard box. The Spartans goalie would mishandle Cole’s shot and it bounced over the goal line.
