BALDWINSVILLE – In Empire State Christian Athletic League action on Friday September 8, the Valley Heights Crusaders won big against the Baldwinsville Christian Academy Bobcats by a score of 5-0. The visitors from Valley Heights brought their ‘A’ game early on, especially on the defensive end. With the theme of defense feeding the offense, the Crusader defensive pressure overpowered the Bobcat offense. Credit the stellar play of Crusader senior defenders Aiden Lowie and Alex Evans with their defensive prowess in the shutout.
Valley Heights struck fast and often throughout the contest with junior Jared Graham scoring with a goal 10 minutes into the game. Jared’s brother Jason Graham got in on the scoring action with a goal halfway through the first period of play, giving the Crusaders the 2-0 halftime lead.
Opening up the second half of play, eighth grader Jack Conant pushed the Crusader advantage to 3-0. Conant’s solo drive juked out several Bobcat defenders before promptly putting the ball in the back of the net. It wasn’t long before Jason Graham repeated for an encore performance with another goal, pushing the score to 4-0. Jonathan Lawrence capped off the scoring for the Crusaders with a goal of his own, allowing the final margin of victory at 5-0.
