NORWICH – The Valley Heights Lady Crusaders pulled off an unexpected victory 2-0 over the visiting Syracuse Eagles Friday afternoon.
With a victory for the Eagles the last match-up against, Syracuse gave the Crusaders a challenging game and pulled out on top, 2-0.
Syracuse was #1 in the league with a 3-0-1 record going into the game and with only two subs, the Lady Crusaders knew they had a tough game ahead.
In the first half, Crusader Emily Davis had a beautiful cross to the far post to teammate Macey Montgomery, who one-touched it into the net, giving Valley Heights a 1-0 lead.
The goal really gave the Crusaders a mental and physical boost. Valley Heights chose to play more defensively following the goal. Not allowing the Eagles break the defense, the Lady Crusaders had over 17 shots on goal.
