OXFORD – One night earlier, Bainbridge-Guilford hosted their own senior night. Tuesday, they handed Oxford a 6-1 loss as the Blackhawks recongized their seniors at the final home game for season.
The night before, Oxford faced the Unadilla Valley Storm, another tough opponent in the MAC Conference. The game ended in a Storm 3-0 win but not without Oxford giving it their all to keep the game close, although the scoreboard didn’t show it, the rest of the stats did. Only a four shot difference seperated the two teams.
Those four extra shots proved to be the difference in the game. Julia Oglesby, Kyleigh George and Shaylyn Thompsen each scored for the Storm.
Oxford had high hopes as Emily Barrows for the goal to give them a 1-0 lead at the half.
But in the second half, it was all Bobcats as they scored six unanswered goals. Scoring two of those goals was Matraca Harmon. Her teammates Molly O’Hara, Elizabeth Dumond, Alli Miller and Jill Cannistra each netted one apiece. O’Hara recorded an assist on the night as well.
Oxford continues their tough schedule as they head to soccer powerhouse Unatego on Thursday for a game time of 6 p.m. Bainbridge-Guilford faces a strong opponent of their own when they travel to Oneonta on Columbus Day in a non-league game. Game will kick-off at 1 p.m. at the Wright National Soccer Complex.
