NORWICH – A Chenango County Grand Jury met last week and decided to indict 13 individuals on crimes including the sale and possession of drugs, arson, and rape.
• Chad J. Shields was indicted on two charges, fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a class D felony, and first degree criminal nuisance, a class E felony.
The first charge alleges that Shields, in the month of September, did knowingly and unlawfully sell methamphetamine in the Town of Greene. It is further alleged in the second charge Shields conducted or maintained a premises where individuals were allowed to gather at his residence for the purpose of engaging in unlawful sales of methamphetamine and cocaine. Shields also did benefit monetarily from the transactions that took place at his residence.
• Julie M. Clark was indicted on one count of second-degree grand larceny, a class C felony. It is alleged that Clark, while acting as the treasurer of the Coventry Volunteer Fire Company, Inc, stole money in the sum of $83,540.07 from said fire department. Clark allegedly stole the money from February 2012 through January 2017.
• Anna Santiago, was indicted on one count of third-degree arson, a class C felony. It is alleged that on or about August 3, Santiago intentionally damaged a building or motor vehicle by starting a fire or causing an explosion in the Town of Greene.
