BAINBRIDGE – Bainbridge-Guilford’s Trevor Halaquist had a nice look at a 3 with his chance to tie the game and send it into the contests second overtime. He missed it but the Bobcats got the rebound and a second chance as Tom Palmatier got off a tough shot at the buzzer. His attempt didn’t fall either as the Bobcats took the opening season 55-52 loss to the South Kortright Rams Tuesday night.
With 25 seconds left in overtime, the game was tied at 52 a piece. The Rams Austin Lamport came out of the timeout (?) and knocked down the game winning three-pointer for his team.
The entire game was back and fourth with ties and lead changes throughout. Fans knew they were in for a good game right away after the first quarter ended at 11-11. Halaquist dropped seven points in the first quarter to lead the Bobcats while Palmatier chipped in the other four.
With 32 seconds remaining in regulation, Lamport hit a big three to tie the game at 46-46. Both teams had chances in the seconds left in the game but nothing fell, sending the game to overtime.
“We played a little better than expected, especially on the defensive end,” said Bainbridge-Guilford’s head coach Brad Aldrich. “This was a good game to get experience from.”
