SHERBURNE – Erica Selfridge of Bainbridge-Guilford, hit three three-pointers in the second quarter to start the Bobcats run that slowly started to separate them from their opponent, the Unadilla Valley Storm. That run helped lead the Bobcats to the second championship in a row in the Marauders Tip-Off Tournament over the weekend.
Unadilla Valley kept the game close in the first quarter, closing the quarter with a three by Shelby Meade as the buzzer sounded.
Erica Selfridge opened the second with her second three-pointer of the contest. Bobcats Megan Palmatier went to the free-throw line, knocking down two and teammate Jill Canistra followed with an and-1 three point play. Then Erica Selfridge drilled her third shot from behind the arc, continuing to grow the gap between the two teams.
Meade answered back with a three ball of her own, but it wasn’t enough to get the deficit within reach before the half.
In the second half, the defense of Brooke Brown for Unadilla Valley kept Palmatier at bay, only allowing her a total of two points in the second half.
That’s when Abi Selfridge turned it on, scoring 11 of her 16 points. Erica Selfridge added six more to give her a game-high 18 points to go along with her nine rebounds and four assists.
Meade finished the game with eight points, tying Julia Oglesby for the team-high for the Lady Storm.
