GREENE – The Trojans kicked off the contest with eight steals en route to their 67-37 win over the Windsor Black Knights Wednesday night.
Brandon Whitaker had a total of six steals for a team-high as Greene finished with team total of 12. The Trojans limited Windsor to just 10 field goals in the game due to their strong, quick defense.
“We played good defense tonight,” said Greene head coach Chris Rice. “We are quick and fast, which helps a lot.”
Despite missing many layups in the first four minutes of the game, the Trojans put 15 points on the board to outscore Windsor by 10.
Greene settled down and started to finish more in the following quarters as they went on to score 18, 22 and 12.
“We need to finish and we should be okay. If we can finish our season like we have started it, it should be a good one,” commented Rice.
Leading the way for the Trojans was Nate Erickson with 14 points and Nate Barry finished with 13. Barry also recorded a team-high four rebounds for the contest. Mitchell Walter also scored in double digits, adding 10 for Greene.
Windsor’s Buchek scored 12 as he went eight-for-ten from the free-throw line while Beattie chipped in 10.
Greene will look to continue on the winning path when they host Delhi on Friday, December 15 at 7:15 p.m.
