CHENANGO COUNTY – As forecasts predict a heat wave this weekend with temperatures exceeding 90 degrees and heat indexes surpassing 100 degrees, the City of Norwich/Chenango County Emergency Operations Center is offering tips to help stay cool.
Norwich Emergency Management Director A. Wesley Jones said, “The advantage of a small community is that we are tight-knit and neighbors and family members tend to step up and help others out.
“That said, there are other alternatives including retail stores, the library, and other locations where you can beat the heat,” said Jones. “We have also arranged with the Norwich YMCA for them to offer their lobby area with tables and chairs for people to escape the elements.”
