NEW BERLIN – After seeing each other already once this season, Unadilla Valley and Bainbridge-Guilford took to the pitch for the championship game of the annual New York Pizzeria Girls Soccer Tournament.

After being tied 1-1 at the break, the Storm’s Shelby Meade placed a direct kick into the back of the net to make the score 2-1. That remained on the scoreboard until the end play to give UV the trophy.

The Bobcats Matraca Harmon scored her second goal of the tournament in the opening 40 minutes of play as she put a penalty kick passed Storm keeper Meegan White.

Unadilla Valley responded with 5:14 left in the first as Malinda Keach found teammate Cearah DaCostaFaro.

Meade gave the home team the lead with 9:25 remaining in the contest and her team was able to hold on for the win.

In the opening round, Bainbridge-Guilford defeated Windsor 7-0. B-G was led by Alli Miller as she scored two goals and recorded an assist. The other five Bobcat goals were scored by five different players. Katelyn Porter, Beth DuMond, Matraca Harmon, Kate Roefs and Macie Leizear each tallied goal for Bainbridge-Guilford.
