SHERBURNE – The Lady Marauders captured their first league win of the season in dramatic fashion, taking the 1-0 victory over Canastota in overtime.
The two teams were held in a stalemate through both halves of play Tuesday afternoon and a 10 minute overtime was needed to decide the outcome.
In a field hockey overtime, the number of players on the playing surface is reduced from 11 to seven.
As the play continued 7v7, the Marauders' Savannah Niles was able to find space on a penalty corner for a shot that ended up in the back of the goal with 3:34 remaining. With her goal, the contest came to a close with S-E on top.
