NORWICH – Guernsey Memorial Library will host a program at 1 p.m. Saturday about the local history of firefighting, titled "Give Us Water and We Conquer."

Presented by Kathryn Greene, the program will be a slide presentation showing pictures of early buildings that once occupied the downtown area, and describe how devastating fires changed that view.

Learn how early fires were fought at the presentation, as well as how various fire companies were formed and what kinds of equipment they had available to them at the time.
